Janisch & Schulz at Aquatech Mexico 2025

Janisch & Schulz Engineers will showcase their expertise at Aquatech Mexico 2025, the premier exhibition for process, drinking, and wastewater technologies in Latin America, held September 2–4 at Centro Banamex, Mexico City. Join us at booth 824 to explore innovative water solutions. This event is a vital platform for water technology leaders to forge partnerships, exchange knowledge, and tackle regional water challenges. Building on our successful 2024 participation, where we sparked productive discussions and initiated new projects, our Mexican office is poised to deepen collaborations and drive sustainable innovation.

Spotlight on Water Reuse: Sustainable Solutions for a Thriving Future

Our focus is on water reuse through advanced, eco-friendly wastewater treatment. Our Constructed Wetlands (CW) purify water naturally, enabling its use for irrigating urban greenery, parks, buildings, and utility purposes. By reducing pollutant discharge into rivers, our systems transform wastewater into a valuable resource, promoting environmental health. This approach delivers substantial savings by lowering freshwater consumption, energy costs, and wastewater fees. Beyond technical efficiency, our solutions enhance the quality of life for communities, supporting vibrant ecosystems for flora and fauna and fostering sustainable urban environments.

Projects in Mexico

Since 2018, Janisch & Schulz has pioneered nature-based wastewater treatment in Mexico using Constructed Wetland (CW) technology, prioritizing efficiency, low maintenance, and ecological benefits. Our flagship projects include:

  • Cihuatlán (Jalisco): Completed in 2021, this multi-stage treatment plant serves over 20,000 residents. It integrates sand traps, screens, and Imhoff tanks for primary treatment, followed by two lung-shaped vertical-flow CWs (9,000 m² each) for secondary treatment. This system achieves high purification with minimal energy, and the treated water supports local irrigation, easing freshwater demand.

  • Mexicali (Baja California): Finalized in January 2025, this project upgrades an existing lagoon-based facility with eight vertical-flow CW modules (12,800 m²) and a surface-flow wetland (14,000 m²). It ensures high purification in arid regions with low energy use, enabling water reuse for green spaces and reducing environmental impact.

  • Rayón (State of México): Under construction and slated for completion in late 2025, this facility will treat wastewater for over 23,000 people, processing 3.5 million liters daily. Featuring six vertical-flow CWs (15,000 m²) and a surface-flow CW, it includes pretreatment systems like sand traps and sedimentation chambers. The treated water supports biodiversity through features like a birdwatching shelter and irrigation for local ecosystems.

  • Héroes de Acolman (State of México): A new project announcement is coming soon—stay tuned!
