J&S Mexico: Inauguration of Our New Constructed Wetland in Mexicali

We are pleased to announce the completion and inauguration of our latest constructed wetland project in northern Mexico. This facility represents a key advancement in decentralized wastewater treatment, integrating nature-based solutions to enhance water quality while minimizing energy consumption.

Located near Ciudad Guadalupe Victoria in the Mexicali Valley, this wetland was developed as an expansion of an existing treatment plant. The system includes two additional purification stages utilizing constructed wetlands: eight vertical-flow wetland modules covering a total area of 12,800 m² and a surface-flow wetland spanning 14,000 m². This configuration ensures high treatment efficiency and contributes to local biodiversity.

With an investment of 48 million Mexican pesos, the project has a treatment capacity of 70 liters per second (6,000 m³ per day). The treated water will be reused for productive applications such as agricultural irrigation, supporting regional water security in this arid part of the country.

The project was officially inaugurated by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, alongside our Engineer Julius Müller and representatives from Arca Continental, the State Secretary of Water, and other key stakeholders. This milestone highlights the importance of public-private collaboration in advancing sustainable water management solutions in Mexico.

We extend our gratitude to all partners involved in bringing this project to fruition. At J&S Mexico, we remain committed to designing and implementing innovative, sustainable wastewater treatment solutions that align with environmental and community needs.
