Tomato and avocado plantation Quintil

The tomato and avocado plantation in the small town of Quintil is run by the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso. New sanitary facilities have been constructed for the staff and subsequently, a solution for the additional wastewater had to be found. The university chose a constructed wetland of Janisch & Schulz.

The facility has been planned in the short term and the construction was prepared on site. We selected the most suitable materials in Chile. We planted reed (Phragmites australis) on the wetland area, which can be found in the south of Chile and Argentina.
After a short period of time, the reeds grew and the treatment performances requested from the authorities are met without any problems.

The purification plant was built between the greenhouses

In the 1st year of operation, the reeds have already grown tall
