A functioning water circulation is crucial to the natural pool’s operation. It has to be ensured that floating pollutants and contaminants, such as pollen, dust, leaves, hair, mucus, etc. are rapidly removed from the swimming pool.
After that, the purification takes place in three stages:
- Dirt and leaf trap
Sedimenting and floating particles are removed from the water.
- Planted soil filter
This principle is comparable with the performance of a constructed wetland. When the water flows through the different layers of a soil filter, it is purified and cleaned in a number of stages.
- Regeneration pond
The regeneration pond is an essential stage during the purification process in order to clean the water. It has to be shallow and sun-drenched and there should be a luxuriant vegetation along the waterfront. Even the algal growth can be promoted as they fulfil an important function: They reconstitute a vast amount of nutrients in the biomass.
